Ways in Which My Kids (And Probably Yours) Are Driving Me Insane This Summer

This morning I started a list of reasons 5 Year Old complains, whines and yells at me. I promised him I would also document my own impatience and the winner of contest (who has less items on their list – there was some confusion around that) will get home made banana pudding. A sample of the items of 5 Year Old’s list and some of the things making him unhappy:

1. He doesn’t want to go to Target and buy new shoes (for him).

2. He knows he’s going to lose this challenge.

3. If he wins he doesn’t want to wait until the evening to taste the banana pudding.

Mantras

I’m featured In The Powder Room today talking about how my kid entered the state of zen he is currently in and became a meditator. Confused? Go here. It’s funny, I promise.

  1. Can not wait for the school year to begin! Actually, my kid’s been pretty easy. He’s 14. Far more self-sufficient. Besides, he’s basically sleeping all morning anyway. They are not always 5. Enjoy being the milk.

I love your post over there and I LOVE THAT I MET YOU THIS WEEKEND. I can’t believe it’s already over. Sigh. xxoo

If my 5 year old could sit still long enough to hear the second item on a list I’d make banana pudding for a week.:/

I have three – almost 10, almost 11, and very much 18-year-old. I could make you a lost of 100 things, but I’m too busy working 3 jobs and punching myself in the face.

    oh wait till they’re 18…ugh

  6. Mommy A to Z says:

Your 5-year-old complains, whines, and yells at you too? We should all band together and start a support group. Oh wait, I guess that’s what the blog is for🙂 And chocolate. Lots and lots of chocolate…

Tired. Going from 10 months of staying at home with the kids to full time work is disorienting. I have to redefine what my involvement in their lives looks like. I have to go dig for my creativity, it's not readily available. I have to make room for friendships that were already pushed to the outskirts of my mommy life. What was previously inaccessible, existing in the "so near yet so far" category - books, blazers and heels - became a staple in this old new reality in a matter of days. Tired and disoriented but also content, supported and appreciative. #momsofinstagram #random #randomthoughts #changes #workingmom #tired #tgif
