Inspirational brag: I'm about to overcome a fear and I'm a little proud of myself.
Every time I went to BlogHer I brought with me print outs of personal essays that I was working up the courage to try and read at open mic nights. I would always get too self conscious about my accent and what not and never ended up going. This year I won't be doing the open mic, but only since my personal essay about immigration was selected to be read on stage at the main event, BlogHer Voices of the Year. It's been a while since I've put myself outside my comfort zone to such extent. I'm excited to try and can't wait to share this experience with my beloved writer friends. (This picture was taken in 2013, the first and only other time I won a VOTY but didn't get to read it). #blogher #BlogHer17 #VOTY #blogher13 #ohtheplacesyoullgo #amwriting #immigration #comfortzone #challenge #growth #goals #writing #momsofinstagram
